The tragic death of Guard’s Major Sergey Eremenko

At 10:25, June 9, 2016 Su-27 fighter jet # 15 of “The Russian Knights” aerobatic team has suffered a crash. The plane was returning to Kubinka base airfield after a scheduled demonstration flight at the unveiling ceremony of a monument to Aviators of Russia in the Ashukino village of Pushkin district, Moscow region. Thus, tragically ended the life of the squadron leader of “The Russian Knights” aerobatic team, 1-class military pilot, Guard’s Major Sergey Alexandrovich Eremenko, who at the cost of his own life led the plane away from the populated area.

Sergey Alexandrovich Eremenko was born on September 4, 1981 in Zernograd city. In 2003 he graduated from the Krasnodar Air Force Institute. He has performed aerobatics since 2011. During the period of service he has mastered aircrafts: Yak-52, L-39, MiG-29, Su-27.
